Impacting megatrends with a global leader in advanced material solutions

As a global leader in advanced material solutions, Materion’s continued growth demanded an evolution of their current website to reflect the company’s growth and innovation. Hanson was already a trusted partner, having led brand strategy efforts a year earlier, so collaborating with them on their website was a no-brainer. By creating a dynamic, world-class experience that better represented their brand and product offering, Hanson provided a rich user experience for prospects, employment seekers, and current customers.

Customer-focused UX strategy

With almost 2,500 pages on their previous site, we rationalized the content to reduce the number of pages and developed site architecture and a UX strategy that supported audience journeys.

The refreshed navigation emphasized end markets, supported by Materion’s selection of performance materials, precision optics, electronic materials, and other specialty products. Using customer-focused language and a user-friendly design system, our redesign dialed in on Materion’s solutions to their customer’s most advanced technical challenges.

Materion’s extensive catalog of advanced material solutions and services required the implementation and configuration of a CMS that empowered the Materion team to make content changes or updates in real-time. As a global company, it was critical that the CMS allowed the new website to include a language switcher and theme/global template-level support in English, Japanese, German, Korean, Malaysian, and Chinese.

With the need for a responsive design that suited desktop, mobile, and tablet devices, accessibility drove development and build strategy, ensuring that the experience was optimized for all users, including those using assistive technologies.

Results

By focusing Materion’s new site on megatrend leadership and customer impact, we empowered the team to manage their own content through CMS implementation and elevated their position as innovators in the advanced materials industry.
