Hanson HQ’s hometown of Toledo, Ohio has long been known as The Glass City. Abundant natural gas and high silica-content sandstone made it the perfect place to pioneer glass production, turning it into a glass manufacturing empire. That heritage, plus a vibrant art scene, eventually spawned the Studio Glass Movement.
So Toledoans had a lot to celebrate when glass got some global recognition in 2022. The United Nations proclaimed it “The International Year of Glass” to acknowledge the role of glass in advancing civilization throughout history and pushing us to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
To unify communications throughout the year, Hanson crafted the city’s International Year of Glass logo. Our vision was to honor Toledo’s rich heritage of pioneering glass production by capturing the natural form and limitless possibilities of raw glass.
More than a dozen Toledo institutions embraced the logo in communications about celebration events such as lectures, tours, and an art and music festival.
