HCR Manor Care's "Circle of Care" program was due for a major update. The health care industry had undergone dramatic changes, as had the technology available to deliver the company's 17-year-old employee training program. The new program would need to be engaging and accessible to 60,000+ employees at 400+ locations, from entry level to top management.
After an extensive discovery, planning and development process involving more than 150 employees, Hanson produced the new multimedia program, including:
- Nine one-hour "classroom style" workshops featuring lectures, group exercises and other activities to support various learning styles
- 20 dramatic video vignettes shown during workshops to model caring behavior in realistic situations. Hanson managed scripting, production, and post-production.
- Complete step-by-step facilitator manual that allows each facility to conduct its workshops without an outside trainer
- Robust online portal that lets facilitators share ideas, best practices

- Online practice game reinforces what employees learned
- Interactive “Kids Edition” game allows employees to share training with family
- Overview brochure and other collateral materials
- Three original songs and music videos used in the program reinforce company culture
HCR Manor Care declared the program an unqualified success. The videos alone earned five national Telly awards and seven MCA-I awards. The program continues to earn rave reviews from program attendees each week.
