Situation
Backstage Gallery had acquired the rights to show, syndicate, and sell hundreds of thousands of images of popular music legends never before seen by the general public.
With many thousands of images available (and growing daily) users would need an easy way to explore the entire collection, to personalize it to their musical preferences, and to collect, share, or buy their favorites.

Architecture, Navigation & Search
Extensive search features allow visitors to move from image to image by artist, genre or photographer from any point within the collection.
Among the most elegant solutions is a quick-view grid of small thumbnails offering a rollover preview of the full image. This unique feature improves the user experience by allowing visitors a smoother, more intuitive way to explore a large number of images of a single artist.

Social Features
The site encourages visitors to personalize their music experience and to shape the experience of other users. Top artists and images are determined by user activity and ratings. Users can rate every photo, collect their favorites, and view them via slideshow, or share them via email or social bookmarking features.

E-commerce with Visualization
While images can be viewed online for free, Backstage Gallery also lets fans buy archival quality prints, with customized mat and frame, right from the site. They can even see exactly what the image will look like on their wall at home, thanks to a visualization tool that lets users preview any image in their choice of size, mat, frame, and even wall texture and color.
